Tsitsikamma, Garden Route: 2005
E&OE Rates subject to currency fluctuations & unforeseen price increases. Departures subject to weather permitting - River may be closed due to rain. Starting with a Steep Descent down a 920 step "rope ladder" into the almost inaccessible canyon, KLOOFING over large boulders KLOOFING over large boulders and PADDLING through long pools with spectacular scenery, ending at the suspension bridge in the Tsitsikamma National Park. BLACKWATER TUBING on the Storms River is the ultimate kloofing experience.
The trip is scenic, exhilarating and always spectacular, with the cliffs almost meeting over your head to block out the indigenous forest. Frequent sightings of the Giant Kingfisher, Knysna Loerie and the Fish Eagle are made.
Depending on the level of the water, you can try your luck at riding a rapid or two (NOT white water unless the river is high), or jump into the "unknown" black water (all under the supervision of your guide). Drifting along the calm pools gives one a chance to relax after clambering over rocky outcrops. We spend about 2˝ hours on the water, depending on the ability of the group.
Participants under 21 need signed parental consent and bookings must be made in advance. Participants need to bring swimming costumes and suitable shoes for wearing on the river - we recommend ‘strops' or trainers. One needs to bear in mind that the shoes will get wet. The shoes should have a good grip for walking on rocks. © Stormsriver Adventures | Why Kokanya |
