The Cango Caves, located to the north of Oudtshoorn, are a magnificent natural wonder, with a constant warm humid temperature of 18 degrees C. Ample lighting makes uneven pathways and stairs easy to negotiate and provides memorable photo opportunities.
With water and time as gentle tools, and porous limestone pliant medium, nature, the master sculpture has vented her talents in creative abandon, filling lofty halls and solemn chambers with an exquisite profusion of rocky shapes that spark the imagination.
Delicate crystal and smooth flowstone ‘curtains’, imposing columns and jagged stalactites glisten in warm golden limestone. Ornate ceiling delight the eye with dolomite grey and cream-coloured limestone weaving a canvas of soft-hued beauty.
